In the fourth semester at the german film school, there is this great lesson. Macromedia Director 8.5.

Hell yeah, damn 3D and better than Maya or Softimage your task is even better. Create a CD-ROM. Like a nice little portfolio. Hmmuh, I wouldn't watch such a CD with a gun sticking in my mouth. So I asked the teacher if I could surprise him with something totally else.

She was pretty nice, and I guess she didn't understand a word what I said, so she accepted.

Did I mention that I was a programmer loooong ago. Like one of these kiddy proggers that like to hack the leet and escape their lamer lifes to go crack and tag things ? When you first tos yourself while fishing you know that some things suck big time. So be nice and peaceful and let the big bad men control your lifes. Enslave yourself.

Ok, enough nerd talk.  .. oh .. did you know that there is a book out there that can teach you nerd talk. Uh wait, my hyperdrive says its neohybrid nano memory needs a restart.

It was so much fun programming this game. And the teacher really was surprised. She loved it.

If you want to play the game it should be loaded by now, maybe :), the controls are. ENTER to start, ARROWS for up, down, left, right, SPACE to shoot and R is the cheat key to go to the next level. Check out the jungle level, I think it is level 3.

If you are into programming you can look at the source code, cough cough, maybe there is a line of code you might need or a structure or something else. The main key in director is a loop that tells the program to stay at the same frame so you can get a 25 fps routine and in this code call the maincode.

All crafts and landscapes were created with Softimage XSI 2.03 and textured with the standard stuff. None took longer then 30 mins.
